JOB SUMMARY
The Case Worker has responsibility for his/her caseload of parolee clients. In conjunction with appropriate specialized staff and the client, he/she develops a treatment plan focused on providing an array of evidence-based services targeted to address the criminogenic needs of parolees, including criminal thinking, anger and aggression, education & vocational needs, substance abuse, and pro-social relationships. In order to develop a well-rounded plan the caseworker utilizes both internal and community resources available to those clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide face-to-face services to the Day Reporting Center parolees
Develop case plans
Develop and monitor the parolees’ progress with their treatment plan through all phases of the program
Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies as necessary
Make progress notes in the client file
Keep the AOR apprised of parolees’ progress and work in conjunction to develop discharge and aftercare plans
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Covers caseload of absent colleagues when necessary.
Serves on committees.
Performs functions relevant to needs of program, clients, or Agency outside the everyday functions of job.
EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
High school diploma or its equivalent and six months experience working with like populations.
Ability to pass a mandatory CDCR Live Scan Background Clearance.
EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing Techniques
A second language (particularly Spanish).
Computer literate.
Familiarity with penal codes and the criminal justice system
