Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administration and Compliance: In accordance with guidelines established by Walden House to satisfy internal and external administrative demands, and those of evaluating agencies, maintains accurate records on clients. Participates in facility CQI.  Ensures that events of significance are documented in logs.
Community Responsibilities: Facilitates mental health groups, classes, workshops and seminars. Facilitates multi-family groups.  Participates in program planning, curriculum planning, and development efforts.  Provides consultation to counselors regarding clients in crisis. Responsible for safety of house; responds to grievances. 
Treatment Planning: In conjunction with staff, evaluates client needs and develops treatment plan.  Updates plan as clients progress through treatment; finally, refers clients to transitional case manager who arranges further treatment after release from prison.
Caseload Responsibilities: Holds individual and group counseling sessions with clients in caseload.  Assists clients to take responsibility for own actions by  giving “learning experiences”, verbal reprimands, enforced reflection times, and facilitating “confrontations”.
CDCR and Role Responsibilities: Follows norms, dresses appropriately, demonstrates honesty, willingness to listen to client issues, and takes responsibility for own actions.  Works with CDCR/CCWF by attending meetings, trainings, and upholding norms, policies, and procedures of CDCR/CCWF.
 
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Serves on Clinical Assessment team
• Ensure the program has family-focused services and is trauma-informed
• Provide mental health and gender-responsive trauma treatment services
• Provide individual, family, and group counseling
• Maintain clinical supervision, including development of the ITRP, review of client’s files; and have the ability to perform initial and/or ongoing client assessments
• Serves on program or agency committees, as assigned
• May serve as manager in absence of Supervising Counselor.
• Responsible for teaching basic clinical training
• Helps to train and orient new staff
• Occasionally performs functions relevant to needs of program, clients, or Agency, which are outside everyday functions of job (i.e. fundraising, maintenance, ceremonies, community activities, etc.).

 EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to work with diverse population
• Ability to receive CDCR Clearance
• Must fulfill one of the following:
    ► Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or professional licensed to provide mental health services in California 
And Minimum of 1 years experience working in addiction
    ► Registered Intern eligible for supervised licensure status, and shall be eligible for licensure within two years
And Minimum of 2 years experience working in addiction
• Experience in women’s residential treatment and trauma informed services
• Prior supervised clinical experience/training in mental health or psychiatric setting with diverse populations
• Demonstrated record keeping abilities
• Familiarity with DSM IV diagnostic criteria
• Ability to work as part of interdisciplinary team
 
 EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED
• Knowledge of CARF requirements
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Knowledge of approaches to recovery such as 12 step, social, or medical models
• Experience in Criminal Justice setting
