Valley State Prison for Women

Walden House operates a program at VSPW. This gender-responsive, trauma informed program’s structure and basic offerings focus on mental health, substance abuse, motivation to change, re-entry issues, and post-release treatment planning. Serves women with 4-8 months remaining prior to parole.

Walden House is contracted with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to operate this prison’s program on F yard. Originally, Walden House helped to activate this program. Walden House’s program serves men with histories of substance abuse who have from 6-24 months remaining to serve on their sentence.

 

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

This building is home to the Female Offender Treatment and Employment Program (FOTEP) which provides residential services for over 90 parolees and their children.

The 22nd Street Oupatient Program provides outpatient services to male and female in-custody substance abuse program graduates. In response to capacity development needs for parolees exiting new and existing in-custody treatment programs, Walden House opened the 22nd Street Outpatient program in 2000. Serves Male and female graduates of in-custody substance abuse programs.

Highlights: Parolees who enter the Walden House program in Los Angeles are part of a unique peer group; virtually every client is either a parolee with identified substance abuse issues or a graduate from an in-custody treatment project.

Walden House maintains a residential treatment facility in Los Angeles for men involved in the criminal justice system. The program provides drug treatment services and housing to parolees – many of whom are graduates of in-prison treatment programs – and to participants in the state’s voluntary drug treatment furlough initiative. In addition to comprehensive substance abuse therapeutic and educational interventions, the Walden House men’s program also provides mental health services, vocational and educational support, and assistance with housing placement in order to facilitate participants’ successful transitions back to the community.
